The Terrace at Trump, the downtown Chicago hotel's sophisticated outdoor dining venue is wowing visitors this season. The urban paradise located on the 16th floor seats 250 guests and offers unobstructed, picturesque views of Lake Michigan, the city’s iconic architecture, the Chicago River and its famed bridges, and the summer fireworks displays from Navy Pier.

Outdoor revelers arrive at The Terrace at Trump via the 16th Floor Bridges Room and find themselves surrounded by the metropolitan oasis that blends modern style with the surrounding natural beauty. Upon entrance, an elegant, vibrant atmosphere is revealed, accented by contemporary décor that includes dramatic lighting and lush foliage. Guests can unwind and enjoy the vibrant scene in custom-designed lounge, booth, and table seating, creating a chic environment to accommodate a range of party sizes. The vibe is accented by an eclectic musical soundtrack that includes down tempo Latin beats and global lounge selections which progress to deep house music with increased tempo as the sun sets on the cityscape.

A destination for both tourists and locals alike, guests will savor Executive Chef Michael Fiddler and Executive Pastry Chef Aya Fukai’s selection of dishes inspired by flavor profiles from around the world and expertly crafted beverage selections that are ideal for a warm weather respite. The offerings celebrate al fresco dining with creative presentations on updated classics and new selections that offer a variety of options to fit any palate.

An extensive dining menu showcases a harmonious blend of international flavors that transport guests with a culinary journey across the globe. Menu highlights include a Lobster Maitake Roll with the warm tail and claws of a one-pound Maine lobster, sautéed Maitake mushrooms, and Soppraffina Ricotta on a toasted New England bun, Ropa Viejawith shredded seasoned beef short rib and melted Swiss cheese on plantain arañitas with jicama-citrus salad, a K-Chick Steam Bun with Korean fried chicken tossed in a sweet and spicy sauce on gua bao with water radish kimchee, and Spicy Grilled Prawns served with a potato and egg Spanish tortilla, spicy peanut sauce and toasted coconut. Guests may also share one of the indulgent Trump Tower Plattersfeaturing multiple tiers of Maine Lobster, jumbo Alaskan King Crab Legs, colossal shrimp, fresh oysters and more.

Guests seeking an indulgent finish to their meal may select from five desserts from Chef Fukai who has created specialties that unite familiar flavors with new techniques and presentations. For the ultimate dessert experience, guests may opt for the 100 Dollar Sundae featuring 20 scoops of ice cream presented on a Lazy Susan with a bevy of toppings such as chocolate crunch, milk chocolate Rocher, pistachio nougat, raspberries, strawberry pearls, mascarpone cream, griottes, and caramel and chocolate sauce. Additional summer treats include the Baked Alaska, with coconut brown butter cake, blueberry ice cream and torched merengue; the Chocolate Indulgence with chocolate cake, dark chocolate ganache, caramel butter cream, cinnamon and mascarpone mouse; the Pot De Crème Trio with Frangelico, chocolate and orange blossom; and the summertime favorite Strawberry Shortcake that is presented picnic style with guests unfolding a large gingham napkin to reveal a mason jar filled with shortcake, crème fraiche, macerated strawberries and Grand Marnier.

The Terrace’s cocktail program will provide guests with the ultimate taste of summer, featuring unique cocktails created with rare ingredients, custom-made flavored ice cubes and creative presentations. The expert beverage team has developed a list of balanced, refreshing cocktails, with highlights including the color-changing Beauregard with St. George Terrior Gin, lavender syrup, blue pea flower ice cubes and fresh lemon drop that will amaze guests as it turns to a deep blue color once served; the Chartruth or Dare with Crystal Head Vodka, green chartreuse, cucumber, ginger beer and fresh lime presented in a glass skull; the Dead Ringer with Pussers Rum, Mahina Coco, pineapple, coconut, orange and cinnamon cane syrup presented in a fresh coconut shell; and—a returning favorite—the Opulence 5 with Perrier Jouet Champagne, vodka, St. Germain, and seasonal fruit-infused ice cubes.

New this year, The Terrace will feature an impressive raw sugar cane press allowing guests to experience unrefined, natural flavors in an assortment of cocktails. The raw sugar cane syrup will be used in tropical cocktails including a Caipirinha, Pisco Sour, Trump Mojito with Plantation Rum, fresh cane syrup, mint lime and soda and Guava Batida with Cabana Cachaca, guava puree, fresh cane syrup and lemon topped with Prosecco.

A boutique selection of wines encapsulating the varietals of the season and craft beers from around the world offer a distinct variety of flavors to complement the dining experience. A premium beer and cider selection from acclaimed breweries is also featured, with brews from Moody Tongue and Revolution Brewery in Chicago, Fin River Cider in Washington, Greenbush Brewery in Michigan, Ale Asylum in Wisconsin, Imper Ale from Italy and Grieskirchner from Austria.

Providing personal service unrivaled in the city, The Terrace’s fashionable staff is outfitted in urban chic uniforms ideal for a cosmopolitan outdoor environment. Designed by local designer Anna Fong the female uniforms take a cue from the natural beauty that surrounds The Terrace and feature the Pantone 2015 color of the year marsala, along with red and black hues. Male uniforms also feature a smart design by Chicago craftsman Nicholas Joseph.
