Chop

Steakhouses are in existence in high quantity in the Midwest and when dining out the options are many. In some cases, a visit to a Chicago steakhouse is a throwback to dark dining rooms with predictable side dishes ~ pleasant and comforting, but lacking an incorporation of food trends and twists on traditional dishes. That's why Chop is a such a breath of fresh air.

The atmosphere is not stuffy or dated. It's a modern steakhouse, with an industrial look and a full wall of windows bringing in natural light. It's located in the bustling, sophisticated Roosevelt Collection of Shops in Chicago's South Loop among retailers, theaters and luxury lofts in the open-air, mixed use space with underground parking and a versatile central park.

That doesn't mean that Chop lacks any of the expectations of a steakhouse - it has an amazing selection of wines and classic cocktails with succulent starters and fresh, upscale salads to accompany excellent cuts of beef, top notch seafood and an eclectic mix of other entrees, pastas and burgers. Whether you're looking for a classy, but hearty meat and potatoes meal, a casual brunch or a salad of exotic ingredients, you'll find it here ~ a little of something for everyone.

We enjoyed everything we sampled - from the shrimp cocktail and oysters rockefeller starters to the chicken roullette and bacon mac and cheese to the steak trio.

Also be sure to try out Chop's casual counterpart, Porkchop, where you can get mouthwatering barbecue and southern specialties.
