Beer Church in New Buffalo, Michigan

On a day trip up to Harbor Country in Southwest Michigan, hubby and I decided to make a stop at Beer Church in New Buffalo. It opened early last year  and we never seemed to be in town when it was open or didn’t have time to stop when it was. So, finally we got in there to check it out.

The church dates back to the 1860s. Right now things are still pretty limited with six beers on tap that are brewed off site while work continues on the building. But, soon there will be a large taproom and a beer garden is currently under construction.

Their beers are available in varying sizes and we tried out a five ounce pour of the five that were currently being served - a cream ale, a saison, a stout an IPA and a DIPA. My favorite was the saison and we brought home a crowler.

I’m looking forward to seeing how this place grows and can’t wait to get back there once they have the taproom complete and have a full kitchen. They do offer cheese flights, so it was nice ot have a little snack with our beers. It was $12 for olive & sea salt cracker and three cheeses. I loved the 2-year-aged sharp cheddar and morel and leek variety.

Beer Church is just a couple blocks away from the beach, so it’s a nice spot to stop and chill after a day in the sun.
